SPEECH VOICES: END OF SAPI SUPPORT

With the introduction of new synthetic voice technology from ElevenLabs, OpenAI TTS, Inworld TTS, Gemini TTS, and Google Cloud TTS, MB STUDIO 8.80 is the last version of MB STUDIO to support the legacy Windows SAPI synthetic voices.

Starting with MB STUDIO 8.81, the legacy Windows SAPI synthetic voices are no longer usable.

VIDEO: END OF WINDOWS 10 SUPPORT

Due to the evolution of the mpv, ffmpeg, gstreamer, etc. video libraries, I can no longer maintain compatibility for the video plugin on Windows 10. Therefore, MB STUDIO 8.80 is the last version of MB STUDIO in which the video plugin works on Windows 10.

Starting with MB STUDIO 8.81, Windows 11 is required for the video plugin to function correctly.

No problem for those who don't use the video plugin; the audio portion continues to work without problems even on Windows10.

WINDOWS STUDIO EFFECTS

If you're lucky enough to own a computer that contains an NPU (neural processing unit) such as AMD Ryzen AI CPUs (including the Ryzen 8600G recommended here HARDWARE ADVICE (JULY 2025) ) or the latest Intel Core and UltraCore CPUs, you can use the new AI graphics effects on your cameras. These effects also work in MB STUDIO and MB LIVE and are as follows:

WEBCAM ADVICE (DECEMBER 2025)

For use with MB STUDIO and MB LIVE, the NearStream wired webcam provides excellent results. It offers excellent video quality at 60 fps combined with low video latency, thus avoiding the annoying lag present in many webcams.
