Rate & Weight Function was created by paul03034
Hello,
I just noticed some songs played 100 times while others only 6 plays and then I noticed that some songs had only a weight number or only a rate number or both and others both empty. Maybe when those songs were added was different versions of software making some have and other not, so I changed all songs for now to 5 and 5 so they are all equal until I understand logic.

Now I need to understand function as to numerical value and its logic so I can make some songs play more than others but still play.

Weight number works where if it is higher number than other song numbers it gets played more or less than the other songs?
Rate number works where if it is a higher number than other song numbers it gets more plays or less plays than other songs?

Using below with the 6 songs having values below who gets played more than the other
Song 1 rate=5 weight 5 play position=?
Song 2 rate=10 weight=5 play position=?
Song 3 rate=10 weight=10 play position=?
Song 4 rate=5 weight=10 play position=?
Song 5 rate=1 weight=10 play position=?
Song 6 rate=10 weight=1 play position=?

Than you for any explanations!

Replied by MB RADIO on topic Rate & Weight Function
The rate is only a descriptive parameter and MB STUDIO do not look at it when a "Random Song" generate a "Song"

Rate is used sometimes as subgenre ex: from DANCE rate1 to DANCE rate10, it's up to you what to do with the rate.

Weight is only used when a "Random Song Least Recently Played" generate a "Song". In this case MB STUDIO search for a song Least Recent Played, but if the weight is bigger than 1 it do not make the song to wait too much for a new broadcast; so generally speaking a song with weight 10 will play 10 times much more often than a song with weight 0 or 1 (0 or 1 have the same effect). Again note that this is only related to the "Least Recently Played" call.

Do not set all the songs with the same weight, if you do this the function do not work and you have unexpected results.

Keep most of your songs at weight 0 or 1 and only your favorite songs (if you have it) with a different weight (this is the right way to use the weight)

If your goal is to get pretty the same hits for all the songs keep all the weights at 0 or 1
